阿森纳已在10月到11月间两次考察过门多萨，其他西甲球队以及意甲球队也在关注这名球员。因为门多萨只有20岁且解约金只有2000万欧，这会是一笔超值签约。阿森纳向来擅长把握这样的机会，此前从瓦伦西亚签下莫斯可拉变来自枪手总监贝尔塔的果断出手。
